A ceremony to mark the 75th Anniversary (Diamond Jubilee) Defence Industries Corps took place at the local military headquarters in Nay Pyi Taw Council Area yesterday morning, attended by Chairman of the State Administration Council, Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing.
Chief of the General Staff (Army, Navy and Air) General Kyaw Swa Lin, Lt-Gen Teza Kyaw of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army) and Chief of Defence Industries Lt-Gen Kan Myint Than cut the ribbon to open the ceremony to mark the 75th Anniversary (Diamond Jubilee) Defence Industries Corps.
The Senior General unveiled the signboard of the 75th Anniversary (Diamond Jubilee) Defence Industries Corps.
The Defence Industries Corps was
systematically formed under the organizational setup on 26 April 1950, and so
it celebrates the 75th Anniversary (Diamond Jubilee) of the Defence Industries
Corps.
In accord with the motto “Power to
the Forces”, the Defence Industries Corps has supplied different arms and
weapons to the Tatmadaw in successive eras. It is necessary to strive to
manufacture better and better quality of military arms and equipment, which can
be assessed on the battlefield.
As part of honouring excellent
performances based on relevant technologies, a total of 513 officers, other
ranks and staff who served the Defence Industries have been conferred
State-level and Tatmadaw-level honorary titles and certificates.
The Defence Industries Corps emerged alongside Myanmar’s independence and has
consistently played an important role throughout history in safeguarding the
independence and sovereignty. Over 75 years, it has carried forward and
preserved fine traditions and noble qualities, and must continue to do so. The
Senior General urged members of the corps to dutifully serve their
responsibilities with loyalty to the nation and Tatmadaw.
The Chief of Defence Industries
reported to the Senior General on the brief history of the corps.
The Chief of Defence Industries
presented a commemorative gift to the Senior General, who returned cash awards
to mark the 75th Anniversary (Diamond Jubilee) Defence Industries Corps.
After cordially greeting retired
senior Tatmadaw officers from the Defence Industries Corps, the Senior General
visited the exhibition to mark the 75th Anniversary (Diamond Jubilee) Defence
Industries Corps.
Also, present at the ceremony were
SAC Vice-Chairman Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services
Commander-in-Chief (Army) Vice-Senior General Soe Win, Commander-in-Chief
(Navy) Admiral Htein Win, Commander-in-Chief (Air) General Tun Aung, senior
Tatmadaw officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief, the commander of
Nay Pyi Taw Command and officials.
