THE government is effectively combatting crimes including online gambling and telecom frauds in border regions.
In doing so,
a total of 231 more foreigners who entered Shwe Kokko and KK Park of Myawady
through illegal routes were verified and detained yesterday, and departmental
teams are carrying out collection of personal profiles and documents of those
detainees to be handed to relevant countries as quickly as possible.
During the
period from 30 January to 16 February 2025, a total of 1,030 foreigners who
illegally entered Myanmar were exposed and detained. Of them, 61 persons were
systematically handed to relevant countries under the law and procedures. Now
is ready to hand over remaining 969 foreigners to relevant countries and they
are now detained well. The interviews with those foreigners were as follows: -
Mr Qian Le Ping (Chinese citizen)
I wanted to
get a good job with a high salary in Mongla, so when I saw job advertisements
offering good opportunities and high wages, I illegally entered Mongla via a
route from China on 12 March 2018. Upon arriving in Mongla, I worked for five
years at an online gaming company called Yong Le Gong, founded by Xiao Mu, a
Chinese citizen. On 3 December 2023, I reached Shwe Kokko through Mongla and
began working for Chinese Xiao Duo Duo’s Hong Tu Guo Ji company, where I
advertise computer games online. I work from 12 noon to 12 midnight every day.
I only receive a salary of 7,000 Baht per month, which is paid for three
months, but I haven’t received any wages for the remaining months.

(Chinese citizen)
The job I was
doing was with a Chinese-owned company called Jin Man Tang, where I had to work
online, engaging in fraud and sending messages for about 16 hours a day. I
worked there for around nine months. In the first month, I earned 5,000 baht,
but I didn’t receive any salary in the following months. The path I took to
enter Shwe Kokko began with travelling from China to Laos. From Laos, I left by
car to Bangkok, Thailand. In Bangkok, with the help of a Thai driver, I
continued to Mae Sot. Upon reaching Mae Sot, with the arrangement of a Thai
person, I crossed a river by motorboat and reached Shwe Kokko. In Thailand, I
was told I would earn 10,000 yuan per month, and it was through a connection
with a Chinese person that I ended up here. On 15 February, I was detained.

Shun (Chinese citizen)
A Chinese
national contacted me online, offering a job that would pay 12,000 yuan per
month in Thailand. As a result, I arrived in Bangkok, Thailand, on 3 May 2024,
via flight from China. Upon arrival, a Chinese driver took me to Mae Sot. I
reached Mae Sot on 4 May. From Mae Sot, with the help of a Thai national, I
made my way to Shwe Kokko. Before reaching Shwe Kokko, I had to cross a river
by boat. Once in Shwe Kokko, I got a job at a company owned by a Chinese
national, where I worked online assisting in the recruitment of people. The job
required 16 hours of work per day, and I earned 2,000 baht per month. I worked
there for about nine months.

Karungi Deborah Nich Adrona (Ugandan citizen)
My friend,
Joel Kagoro, was supposed to work as an interpreter for a customer service
company in Bangkok, Thailand. The salary was to be 25,000 Baht, so I responded
positively and agreed to take the job. After contacting the company, I left
Uganda by plane on 15 June 2024, and arrived at Bangkok airport on 16 June. A
man, whom I was connected with, drove me to Mae Sot by car. During the journey,
we passed through two security gates. At these gates, they only took my photo
and did not conduct any questioning or further checks. I spent about eight
hours in the car, and when I arrived in Mae Sot, I stayed at a hotel for one
night. The next day, I crossed a river (Thaungyin river) by boat, and once I
reached the other side, a man picked me up by car and took me to the job site
Shwe Kokko. I then attended a two-week training session at Hong Tu Yuan Gu
company, where I worked for about a month doing computer-based communication
tasks. Later, I moved to another company, Yahtaik, and in the first week, I
earned 6,000 Baht as salary.

Phimsanduk (Thai citizen)
I graduated with
a specialization in Electronics. After graduating, I worked in my hometown, Lam
Phun. While working, I was contacted online by someone who offered me a job
with a good salary in a place called Shwe Kokko. The job was to find people
online, and I was told the monthly salary would be 30,000 baht. I was contacted
through Facebook by a woman who explained the offer. So, on 5 January 2025, I
left Lam Phun by passenger bus. When I arrived in Mae Sot, a Thai man picked me
up by car and took me to the riverside. We crossed Thaungyin river by boat, and
when we reached the other side, a Chinese man picked me up in a car and took me
to the Hong Chu company in Shwe Kokko. There, I was learning computer skills to
work in an online gaming job. While I was still learning, I was detained.
