Consul-General U Ming Kyaw Linn of the Consulate-General of Myanmar in Chiang Mai, Thailand, attended the opening ceremony of the Duean Yi Peng Chiang Mai 2024 Lantern Festival on 14 November at the invitation of Mr Assanee Buranupakorn, Mayor of Chiang Mai Municipality, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The governor of Chiang Mai Province, the
mayor of Chiang Mai Municipality, consuls-general, consuls from
consulates-general based in Chiang Mai, and senior officials from government
offices in Chiang Mai were also at the event. Following the opening ceremony, U
Ming Kyaw Linn, accompanied by other distinguished guests, enjoyed a musical
water fountain show and a fireworks display.
On the full moon day of Tazaungmone, which
fell on 15 November, staff members of the Consulate-General of Myanmar in
Chiang Mai observed the 13th Communal Kathina Offering Ceremony organized by
the Myanmar community in northern Thailand. The Kathina robes and alms offering
ceremony to monks took place at Wat Sai Mon Myanmar Buddhist Temple in Chiang
Mai, where the Myanmar consulate-general also hosted a charity feast for the
congregation.
