RIJO village in Chepwe District, Kachin State, has started using electricity thanks to a solar power installation project implemented by China’s State Power Investment Corporation (SPIC), according to the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China to Myanmar.
The SPIC, which is working in Myanmar to
provide electricity to villages that currently lack access, with the aim of
reducing poverty, began its energy-efficient electricity installation project
in Rijo village on 23 September 2023.
The project is also a practical
implementation of China’s “Belt and Road Initiative” and supports the UN’s 2030
Sustainable Development Goals.
