Mon State tourist arrivals surge 61% in H1 2024

 



ACCORDING to the Directorate of Hotels and Tourism, over 900,000 visitors came to Mon State from January to May this year. That represents a 61 per cent increase in tourist arrivals compared to the same period last year.

Tourists from Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, and China were particularly notable among the visitors. They visited famous sites such as the Kyaiktiyo Pagoda, the Kyaikthanlan Pagoda, the Kyaikkhami Mid-water Pagoda, and Setse Beach.

Mon State hosted over 800,000 visitors, both local and foreign, last year.
