ASEAN Committee in Islamabad holds monthly meeting, rotating chairpersonship

 

THE monthly meeting of the ASEAN Committee in Islamabad (ACI) was held on 26 June, led by ACI rotating chairperson, Ambassador of the Philippines Mrs Maria Agnes M Cervantes and attended by U Aung Kyaw Thura, charge d’affaires ad interim of the Myanmar Embassy in Islamabad.

At the meeting, the heads of embassies of the ASEAN member countries based in Islamabad approved the minutes of the ACI 4/2024 meeting held on 5 May. They reviewed the work plans implemented during the tenure of the rotating chairperson from the Philippines and discussed future initiatives.

After the meeting, the heads of embassies presented commemorative gifts to Vietnamese Ambassador Mr Nguyen Tien Phong, who is departing Islamabad at the end of his tenure. The role of ACI rotating chairperson was then handed over to Col (Rtd) Pengiran Haji Kamal Bashah bin Pengiran Haji Ahmed, Ambassador of Brunei to Pakistan.
