9 Chinese, 38 Myanmar citizens arrested for gambling at PAL Hotel

 


BASED on a tip-off regarding the operation of a gambling club, combined teams including the Myanmar Police Force and witnesses inspected the PAL Hotel, located at No 8, Thirimon 10th Street, Thirimon Residence, Ward No 1, Mayangon Township, Yangon Region, on 10 May.

 

On the second floor of the hotel, 47 individuals were reportedly arrested in connection with the operation of the gambling club. They include three Chinese males, one of whom is Mr Yang Jian, who are the organizers and managers of the club; seven male and 24 female Myanmar citizens who are employees of the club; five male and one female Chinese citizens; and three male and two female Myanmar citizens who were gambling. The arrests were made in possession of gambling-related materials and money.

Authorities have filed a case at the Bayintnaung Police Station in Mayangon Township and are investigating to determine the appropriate legal action for the individuals who were arrested.
