THE Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry convened its 32nd Annual General Meeting at the National Theatre in Yangon yesterday.
After the opening remarks by UMFCCI President U Aye Win, Deputy Prime Minister Union Minister for Planning and Finance U Win Shein noted in his speech that the UMFCCI was aiming to grow into a world-class leading organization through partnership with many other business associations.
He stressed the private sector's pivotal role as the nation's primary economic engine and a key creator of value and jobs. The private sector is a hub for significant investments and a breeding ground for creativity, human resource development, and technological advancements. The Deputy Prime Minister reiterated the government's unwavering commitment to fostering robust private-sector development.
He also mentioned the authorities' effort to adjust financial and monetary policies to resolve the country's challenges and cooperation at an international level to secure foreign markets. The Deputy Prime Minister urged businesspeople to work for their interests, the people, and the country. Following his speech, Union Minister for Commerce U Tun Ohn took the stage. Later, UMFCCI General Secretary Daw Khine Khine Nwe presented the annual report, financial statement, and accounting report by the external auditor, JF Group-Certified Public Accountants & Auditors.
Following this presentation, she addressed pre-submitted questions and suggestions.
Officials later approved the report and statement and appointed the external auditor for the 2023-2024 financial year.
UMFCCI President U Aye Win concluded the meeting with his closing remarks. Following a photo session, officials and invitees toured the exhibition halls.
Union Minister at the Union Government Office 1 U Aung Naing Oo, Union Minister for Investment and Foreign Economic Relations Dr Kan Zaw, Central Bank of Myanmar Governor Daw Than Than Swe, Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein and other responsible officials attended the meeting.
