THE inauguration of the 2023 Monsoon Market Fair, featuring exhibitions of industrial products and electric vehicles (EVs), took place yesterday at Yangon’s People’s Square. Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein delivered the opening speech, marking the commencement of the event.
The
fair saw the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Industrial Products Exhibition and
Electric Vehicle (EV) Exhibition, attended by Yangon Region Development Affairs
Minister (Mayor) U Bo Htay, Region’s Minister for Commerce U Myo Myint Aung,
representatives of the Industrial Zone Committee, Yangon Electricity Supply
Corporation Chairman U Aung Kyaw Oo, President of the UMFCCI U Aye Win, among
other officials.
Following
the opening, the Yangon Region chief minister, Commander of Yangon Command
Maj-Gen Zaw Hein, and officials explored the showcased industrial products,
electric vehicles (EVs), and charging infrastructure.
The
Market Fair and Exhibition encompass a diverse range of displays like
industrial products from 29 industrial zones in the Yangon Region, local
products from various regions, including Nay Pyi Taw Council, MSME exhibits,
technological gallery by Myanmar Computer Federation, UMFCCI and alliance
associations, Myanmar Women Entrepreneurs’Association, displays from various
associations and private entrepreneurs.
The
event also features sales of essential items such as Myanmar Rice Federation
and Retailers Association of Rice products, Myanmar Oil Dealers’ Association
offerings and cooking oil, vegetables, and fruits from the Yangon City
Development Committee.
Visitors
can enjoy engaging activities like affordable restaurants, dance performances
and DJs, and access to outlet booths and showrooms by car through inner circle
road. The 2023 Monsoon Market Fair will run from 4 to 6 August, open from 9 am
to 7 pm. Reasonably-priced food stalls will be available for visitors and booth
employees.
