MINGALA to all
May you all have good deeds called Mingala during Myanmar New Year – Thingyan festival full of Mingala. Mingala means prosperity, and also keeping away from destructive elements means Mingala. It can be achieved by doing, saying or thinking the good things. It is important not to do or think the negative things. Transitioning to a new year is a period to change the time and it also depends on our activities and mind, like we eat when we want to and go when we want to. If we wish Mingala all the time, we must keep that in mind, especially Metta (loving-kindness). It also means wisdom. If one’s mind is full of Metta and wisdom to decide on all cases and put Metta (loving-kindness), Karuna (compassion), Mudita (emulation) and Oppitka (detachment) on all living things. Those who have such Metta and Pyinya will have Mingala, and all the things they do are also Mingala. If we do good things, we will achieve good prosperity or Mingala. If we avoid doing bad things, it will keep us far from harmful things. Everybody thinks that all the things they do are the good ones. So, will the things they do offer positive effects? If not, they need to consider it again.
The changes mean action changes and
time changes. Thinkanta changes mean trying to achieve wisdom daily and to
increase Metta than before. It is called Myanmar Thingyan. I want all to lead
to positive changes. All should review their manners every night to determine
whether they are correct and good. If they do so, they will know what is good
and evil. If they avoid doing bad things, they can achieve good things,
Mingala. People should review themselves from the point of others. They can
consider that we are right while looking at others. They do not remark on
themselves from the point of other’s view. They should review themselves, and
they can get two opinions, and there will be three when they comment from
another person’s side. If so, they can know right and wrong significantly. They
can get more than three ways in their doings. If they do so, they can reach a
good pathway from the bad one and from the good to the better one. The
Thinkanta is a change to a better one. During the transition from one year to a
new one, I want the people to look at themselves with their own opinion,
including others’ thoughts and wisdom. It should base on sympathy. Only then
can the people know the ways that they should keep going. The people should
consider others with proper wisdom, see the right and wrong and do good
positive things, and it will be Mingala. May all the words be full of Mingala
and positive activities to get Mingala during the New Year period. May all you
get prosperity the whole year round, live and Samsara (circle of rebirth) and
get away from the pain and unhappiness.
Sadhu Sadhu Sadhu (Welldone,
well-done, well-done).
