In the past, Myanmar used to call
for a vote. However, this year resolution was adopted without a vote due to the
misrepresentation of an illegitimate representative, who was dismissed from
civil service and has been facing the charge of high treason, at the United
Nations. His treasonous act jeopardizes the national interests.
Myanmar always opposes the targeted
country-specific resolutions which are adopted against the United Nations’
principles of universality, objectivity and non-selectivity in consideration of
human rights issues. As the modalities of formulating the resolutions and
organizing the dialogues are fundamentally flawed, it is unacceptable to see
that the said resolution against Myanmar is full of distorted and erroneous
elements, including the term “Rohingya”, which has never existed in any legal
and historical context of Myanmar and has never been recognized by the people
of Myanmar. In this connection, Myanmar strongly rejects and dissociates itself
from the adoption of the resolution.
