THE Thadingyut
festival is accompanied by a set of holidays perfect for the general public to
spend time with loved ones and travel to all places. Mandalay Region is receiving
its fair share of visitors this year as crowds visit the famous U Bein Bridge
and Taungthaman Lake it’s situated on, in Amarapura.
While both the
lake and the bridge draw in foreign and domestic visitors, the public holidays
for Thadingyut has noticeably increased the number of people coming to see the
cultural heritage.
U Kyaw Shwe from
the Department of Health is visiting with his family and colleagues from
Yangon. He says the long holiday is a perfect time to plan a trip with everyone
together and they have visited PyinOoLwin the other day, another popular
destination in Mandalay.
The lake offers
boat rides while the bridge offers majestic backdrops for photography. The
increased tourism also helps local businesses.
