IDPs at Kachin State camp get aid before returning home

THE working committee on resettlement of internally displaced persons in Kachin State yesterday disbursed aid to IDPs from the Jarmaingkaung RC Camp in Myitkyina, who will return to their homes soon.

Over 310 IDPs from the camp will return to Tarlawgyi Village, 173 IDPs to Kanpaingyan Ward in Chibwe Township, and 64 IDPs to Yitjaw Village.
Deputy Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement U Soe Aung, in his capacity as the chairman of the working committee, met with the IDPs at the Jarmaingkaung Camp yesterday.
At the meeting, the administrators of Myitkyina and Chibwe townships asked the committee to help in security and landmine clearance, construction of houses, and ensure water and power supply, education, health, and livelihoods at the villages where the IDPs plan to resettle.
The deputy minister also pledged to continue the committee’s assistance to the IDPs, in accordance with the guidelines of the National Reconciliation and Peace Centre.
He also sought the participation of the IDPs to accelerate resettlement efforts.
Following the meeting, the deputy minister went to the Mongnar camp and presented cash assistance to IDPs. The delegation from the working committee also visited the Tarlawgyi Village, Nansanyan Village where IDPs have resettled.
