UNION
Minister for Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation U Ohn Win, who
had been in New Delhi to attend the fourteenth session of the Conference of the
Parties to the UN Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD COP 14), first
attended minister level meeting on 8 September.
He
gave an opening remark at the meeting.
The
meeting focused matters related to exchange of resources, technical skills and
experiences among the developing countries, and ways to promote cooperation
among them to tackle land degradation and desertification.
The
Union Minister then attended the opening ceremony of the High-Level Segment
(HLS) of the fourteenth session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN
Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD COP 14) at the India Expo Centre in
New Delhi on 9 September.
He
also joined the roundtable talk entitled “Land, Climate and Renewable Energy”
and interactive dialogue entitled “Healthy land, healthy people.”
On
10 September, the Union Minister attended the high-level luncheon to launch the
Peace Forest Initiative, which aims to support joint rehabilitation of degraded
areas in post-conflict settings.
