Union Minister Dr Than Myint attends UN convention

Union Minister for Commerce Dr Than Myint attended the signing ceremony of the United Nations Convention on International Settlement Agreement on Mediation (Singapore Convention on Mediation) and High level Conference on Mediation yesterday morning.

Prior to the convention, the Union Minister met with foreign ministers and Prime Minister of Singapore Mr Lee Hsien Loong.

At the event, Mr Lee Hsien Loong and Assistant Secretary-General for Legal Affairs of UN Mr Stephen Mathias delivered their key note speeches, and UN Secretary General Mr. Antonio Gurterres with video conferencing. The convention was attended by the ministers and high-level representatives from about 70 countries. Fourty-six countries including the United States, China, India and ASEAN Countries signed the agreement. Afterwards, the Union Minister attended working lunch with the ministers and representatives. He then met with Singaporean Minister for Home Affair and Law Mr K Shanmugam SC, and attended the dinner hosted by Mr Heng Swee Keat, Vice Prime Minister for Singapore.
