Seven improvised explosive devices-IEDs- planted by the
AA group exploded on the Yangon-Sittway Road in Myebon, Rakhine State
yesterday, causing damage to a bridge and the road.
Two landmines reportedly planted by AA near
Kyarchantaung Bridge at mile post 69/4, and between mile posts 62/3 and 62/4 on
the Yangon-Sittway Road in Myebon Township exploded around 8 am yesterday.
There were no casualties or injuries during the incident.
Also, a bus
ran over a landmine planted by AA on 31 May at the same site.
Similarly, five IEDs planted by AA exploded between
mile posts 62/3 and 62/4 on the Yangon-Sittway Road between Michaungtat and
Taungchay villages in Myebon Township at noon.
No injuries were reported.
AA has been planting landmines on roads in Rakhine
State, in an attempt to jeopardise the rule of law and cause panic among local
residents, according to the Myanmar Police Force.
The MPF will take actions against the AA group for
planting landmines, said the MPF in its statement yesterday.
