National Seminar on Strengthening Health Promoting School
continued its second day at Myanmar International Center II in Nay Pyi Taw
yesterday.
In the morning, experts from the Ministry of Health and
Sports and Ministry of Education discussed reducing traffic accidents,
incorporating sexual and reproductive education in the school curriculum,
building a hygienic society, and eradicating students’ game addiction. They
discussed in accordance with their area of expertise.
Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Health and Sports, Dr.
Thar Tun Kyaw, and Rector of Yadanabon University Dr. Maung Maung Naing acted
as facilitators of the seminar. This was followed by a question and answer
session.
In the afternoon section, Deputy Minister of Education
Dr. Win Maw Tun and Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Health and Sport Prof.
Dr. Thet WinKhine took over as facilitators.
Next, the Department of Public Health, Department of
Basic Education, department of Education Research, Planning and Training had a
round of discussion and the attendees asked questions related to the
discussion.
Union Minister for Education Dr. Myo Thein Gyi delivered
key note speech at the closing ceremony of the seminar in the evening.
Similarly, Union Minister of Health and Sports Dr. Myint Htwe delivered a
conclusion speech.
He said that the questions and suggestions by the
experts, teachers, students, student union representatives and parents are of
high quality and will be of great help in drawing up grand strategies and
roadmaps.
He added that this will bring about good health for
students in mind and body and that the seminar is held to instil health consciousness
in students to pick up the pace of health related work for their own good.
