A ceremony in remembrance of
outspoken journalist Hanthawaddy U Win Tin’s death 5 years ago was held at
Taung Lay Lone monastery near U Bein Bridge, Amarapura Township, Mandalay,
yesterday.
Sayar Maung Thit Lwin (Ludu) spoke
at the ceremony: “U Win Tin never worked for self-gain. He knew what was going
on in the country since he was a journalist.
He knew who were right and who were
wrong. He always tried to unite everyone in this endeavour. He had the courage
to uncover the truth. Which is why he cannot be forgotten.”
Writers, poets and journalists from
Mandalay attended the ceremony and paid a minute of silence for the late
journalist.
