A total of 677 prisoners, including
two foreigners, were freed from the Insein Central Prison yesterday, according
to the prison authorities.
Of the total prisoners, 627 were men
and 50 were women. They had been charged under the Police Disciplinary Act, the
Defence Services Act, the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law, among
other laws.
The prisoners were released from
Insein Central Prison along with the Shwe Thathay, Tawtangyi, Hlayhlawinn,
Eyclaung, Aung Chantha, and Mingon labour camps.
