THE Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement has provided
over K 70 million in aid packages to displaced people in Ponnagyun,
Buthidaung, Kyauktaw and Yethedaung townships in Rakhine State. The
ministry handed over K20 million as aid for the displaced people at the
Rakhine State Government Office in Sittway, Rakhine State, on 11
January, bringing the total amount of aid packages to over K 70 million.
Speaking at the ceremony, Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and
Resettlement Dr. Win Myat Aye expressed his sympathy to the displaced
people, pledging to provide for their requirements.
In the event, the Union Minister delivered rice worth K 40 million for one month, mats and blankets worth K 9.9 million for 970 households, or 4470 people. Rakhine State Chief Minister U Nyi Pu and the displaced people accepted the supplies and expressed their thanks.
