Union
Minister for Transport and Communications U Thant Sin Maung travelled by an RBE
train along the Nay Pyi Taw-Bago railway section on 21 July and inspected the
train stations, bridges and railway sections undergoing upgradation.
The
union minister and his entourage first arrived at the Pyi Win Station and
Tharweihti Station and observed the passenger and cargo transportation systems,
the staff organisation and checking out whether there were enough staff members
and whether the staff residences required renovation to withstand the rainy
season. The union minister and his entourage then passed through Yayni, Myo
Hla, Swar, Kone Gyi, Kyaytaw and Toungoo stations.
There,
they met with station officials and staff members and inspected the piles of
stones to be used for paving roads and their size and quality. The union
minister instructed officials to ensure there was no wastage of stones used in
paving the road and that the staff were properly sheltered from the rain.
The
union minister and his entourage then passed through Pyu, Tawkywe Inn,
Penwegone and Nyaungpinthar stations and met with staff members. He encouraged
them to work harder in upgrading the Yangon-Toungoo railway section. He
instructed them to ensure the concrete sleepers, stones for paving the road and
the railway tracks arrived on time so that laying/upgrading the railways,
concrete sleepers and train signals would be duly completed. He told the staff
to be cautious so that there were no delays in the railway schedule, as there
would be changes to the schedule during the upgrading process. He also told
them to offer the best services to passengers and respond to any issues.
Once
the Yangon-Toungoo railway upgradation is completed, trains will be able to
travel at 100 km/h, enabling passengers to reach their destinations in a
shorter amount of time.
