THE Union Government held a Waso
robe offering ceremony for 2018 at the Sasana Beikman, Uppatasanti Pagoda, Nay
Pyi Taw yesterday.
President U Win Myint, First Lady
Daw Cho Cho and State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi donated Waso robes and
offertories to the Members of the Sangha.
Before the ceremony, State
Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi paid homage to the Buddha Image and offered
food, fruits, flowers, water and candle lights.
The Waso Robe Offering Ceremony for
2018 held by the Union Government began with the President, First Lady, the
State Counsellor and the congregation receiving the Five Precepts given by the
Chairman Sayadaw of State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee Bhamo Sayadaw Dr
Bhaddanta Kumarabhivamsa, after which they listened to the parittas recited by
Members of the Sangha.
Afterwards, President U Win Myint
and First Lady Daw Cho Cho offered Waso robes to Bhamo Sayadaw Dr.
Kumarabhivamsa.
State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu
Kyi offered Waso robes and offertories to Secretary Sayadaw of the State Sangha
Maha Nayaka Committee Sayadaw Agga Maha Pandita Bhaddanta Sandimabhivamsa.
Next, Vice President U Myint Swe
and wife Daw Khin Thet Htay offered Waso robes and offertories to Vice Chairman
Sayadaw of State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee Hsinphyugyun Sayadaw Bhaddanta
Nanninda; Speaker of Amyotha Hluttaw Mahn Win Khaing Than’s wife Nant Kyin Kyi
to Vice Chairman Sayadaw of the committee Pathein Kontha Sayadaw Bhaddanta
Vilasa;
Union Chief Justice U Htun Htun Oo
to Vice Chairman Sayadaw of the committee Hsinmin Sayadaw Bhaddanta Obasa
Bhivamsa and Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung
Hlaing and wife Daw Kyu Kyu Hla offered the Waso robes to Vice Chairman of the
committee YeU Sayadaw Bhaddanta Ottamanannabhivamsa.
Chairman of the Constitutional
Tribunal of the Union U Myo Nyunt and wife Daw Htay Yi, Chairman of the Union
Election Commission U Hla Thein and wife, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence
Services Commander-in-Chief (Army) Vice-Senior General Soe Win and wife, Deputy
Speaker of Amyotha Hluttaw U Aye Tha Aung, Union Ministers, Union
Attorney-General, Union Auditor-General, Chairman of the Union Civil Service
Board, Chairman of the Nay Pyi Taw Council, Governor of the Central Bank of
Myanmar, Chairman of the Anti-Corruption Commission, Commander of Nay Pyi Taw
Command, and Deputy Ministers offered Waso robes to the Members of the Sangha.
Afterwards, the congregation
listened to the sermon delivered by Sayadaw Agga Maha Pandita Bhaddanta
Sandimabhivamsa.
The ceremony came to an end with
donation of ‘soon’ (day meal) to the Members of the Sangha.
