The
Waso robe offering ceremony of families of the Office of Commander-in-Chief
(Army, Navy and Air) for 2018 took place at Anawrahta Hall of the Office of the
Commander-in-Chief (Army) yesterday morning, attended by Commander-in-Chief of
Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and wife Daw Kyu Kyu Hla.
The
ceremony was attended by member Sayadaws of the State Sangha Maha Nayaka
Committee, led by Chairman Sayadaw Presiding Nayaka of Bhamo Monastery of
Mandalay Abhidhaja Maha Rattha Guru Abhidhaja Agga Maha Saddhammajotika Dr
Bhaddanta Kumarabhivamsa, Tipitakadhara Tipitakakovida Sayadaws, Ovadacariya
Sayadaws of Uppatasanti Pagoda and invited members of the Sangha. Also present
at the ceremony together with Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and wife Daw Kyu
Kyu Hla were Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Commander-in-Chief
(Army) Vice-Senior General Soe Win and wife Daw Than Than Nwe, Union Ministers
and their wives, senior military officers from the Office of the
Commander-in-Chief and their wives, the commander of Nay Pyi Taw Command and
wife, and officers, other ranks and families of the offices and departments
from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army, Navy and Air).
They
also listened to the recitation of Metta Sutta by members of the Sangha. Senior
General Min Aung Hlaing and wife Daw Kyu Kyu Hla offered Waso robes and alms to
the Bhamo Sayadaw.
Vice-Senior
General Soe Win and wife Daw Than Than Nwe donated Waso robes and offertories
to Secretary of the State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee Presiding Nayaka of
Minkyaung Pahtamapyan Monastery of Thanlyin in Yangon Region Agga Maha Pandita
Bhaddanta Candimabhivamsa.
Afterwards,
the Union Ministers and their wives, the Chief of the General Staff (Army, Navy
and Air) and wife, the Commander-in-Chief (Navy) and wife, the
Commander-in-Chief (Air) and wife, and senior military officers and their wives
presented Waso robes and provisions to members of the Sangha.
Thanlyin
Minkyaung Sayadaw delivered a sermon, and the congregation shared the merits
gained. Later, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, wife Daw Kyu Kyu Hla and those
present offered day meals to members of the Sangha.
