Technical Working Group (TWG)
visited some potential projects sites in Buthidaung and Maungtaw townships from
21 to 23 July 2018.
It was the first field visit by TWG conducted before
effective implementation of the MoU signed between Ministry of Labour,
Immigration and Population (MLIP), UNDP and UNHCR on 6 June 2018. The field
visit was led by TWG, consisting of representatives from Ministry of Foreign
Affairs, Ministry of the Office of the State Counsellor, Ministry of Labour,
Immigration and Population, Ministry of the Social Welfare, Relief and
Resettlement, Rakhine State Government, UNDP and UNHCR.
During the field visit, TWG team
went on site visits to the villages of Buthidaung and Maungtaw townships,
namely Ka Kyet Kan Pyin, Tatyar, Zayditaung, Da Pyu Chaung, Inn Gyin Myaing,
Nga Khu Ya, Naung Chaung, Shwe Yin Aye and met the local people.
The purpose of the mission is for
the TWG to familiarise with the situation on the ground, including visiting
some of the potential project sites of the region. The visit of the TWG team
will be immediately followed by assessment teams from the Government of
Myanmar, UNDP and UNHCR to the Village Tracts being considered.
