The
Myanmar National Human Rights Commission (MNHRC) and the United Nations
Development Programme (UNDP) in Myanmar held a meeting at the MNHRC office in
Yangon yesterday.
MNHRC
Chairman U Win Mra, its members, UNDP Deputy Country Director Dawn Del Rio and
UNDP officials in Myanmar attended the meeting.
At
the meeting, the MNHRC Chairman explained the commission’s progress in
promoting and protecting human rights and its role in international relations
before explaining its future plans.
Next,
the UNDP officials explained the strengthening accountability and rule of law
(SARL) programme for Myanmar and the MNHRC’s importance.
The
two sides continued their discussions on future cooperation.
