Ministry of Border Affairs delivers aid to displaced persons in Kachin State




A formal ceremony was held in Sha-Wor Village in Waingmaw Township, Kachin State to present humanitarian aid to the 227 displaced persons who fled their homes after a security response in Kachin State occurred.


Present at the ceremony were Director U Aung Kyaw Htoo of the Kachin State Development Administration Office, officials from Myitkyina District’s General Administration Department, departmental organizations and the displaced persons.

At the ceremony, Director U Aung Kyaw Htoo presented the humanitarian aid on behalf of the Ministry of Border Affairs to the displaced persons to which the DPs expressed their thanks.

The humanitarian aid included a month’s worth of rations (estimated to be Ks 3,164,200), 82 bags of rice, 140 viss of edible oil, 211 viss of lentils (approx. 759.6 lbs), and 35 viss of salt (approx.. 126 lbs).

The Ministry of Border Affairs has supplied humanitarian aid to 2,380 displaced persons in Kachin State. The total humanitarian aids supplied are 883 sacks of rice, 1,390 viss of edible oil, 2,337 viss of lentils (approx. 8,413.2 lbs), 450 viss of salt (approx. 1,620 lbs), 162 blankets and 82 mosquito nets.

The humanitarian aid has been distributed with the help of the regional military force to Manwe Village in Phakant Township, Tanphe Village in Myitkyina Township, Namti Town in Mogaung Township, and Aung Lawd Village in Tanai Township.

Future plans for distributing medicine, providing healthcare and nutritional supplement tochildren are underway.
