SEVERAL
rural development projects have been carried out in Shinbweyan, a town in Tanai
Township in far-flung Kachin State, to improve the socio-economic condition of
the rural community.
As
part of the development, authorities are currently implementing a project to
establish new transport infrastructure in the town from January.
U
Zaw Win, an MP from Tanai constituency, said that road and bridge construction
projects are being carried out throughout the town by using funds from the
government and parliament budgets. The township development committee
contributed Ks150 million for the projects. The projects are expected to be
finalised within the 2017- 2018 fiscal year.
There
are four wards in the town, and each earthen road is approximately 12 feet
wide. Some of them will be paved with concrete under this project, said U Than
Myint, a project implementer.
U
Zaw Yaung, who resides in ward 4, said: “As blue-collared labourers, we receive
Ks7,000 as daily wages thanks to these development projects. We are happy to
build new roads and bridges that provide us with employment opportunities and a
better transport system. Earlier, the town’s residents faced transport
barriers, especially during the rainy season.”
