Rakhine traditional ‘Kyin’ wrestling demonstration in Sittway

Rakhine ‘Kyin’ wrestling demonstration was made yesterday in Sittway, Rakhine State.

The demonstration, which was organized by AKYAB Co., Ltd and ‘Kyin” wrestling lovers, was opened at the Sittway Sports Ground, with demonstration of Kyin wrestlers. The sport game held from December 17 to 18.

Prominent ‘Kyin’ wrestlers U MaungTunHla, U Seing Maung Hla and U Bu MaungHla, demonstrated the wrestling skills and it was recorded documentary films in order to raise awareness of the game among the young Rakhine generation. Kyin or wrestling contests were held resoundingly in urban and rural areas for the vigorous strength, health and fitness. Every youth of Rakhine national has to preserve Kyin Sport to be skillful from generation to generation.

This demonstration aims to preserve the ‘Kyin’ wrestling which is nearly die out and to uplift the spirit of the young generation as well, according to the U Maung Maung Gyi, member of the ‘Kyin’ wrestling committee.
