The
Road Transport Administration Department will introduce an online booking
system to carry out the inspection of registered vehicles in Yangon starting on
2 January.
However,
the inspection processes for vehicles from other regions and states, changes to
colour and name and motorbikes remain unchanged. The department is taking
measures for the smooth functioning of vehicle registration as people face
delays due to traffic jams caused by the long line of vehicles.
According
to official figures issued by the Road Transport Administration Department,
999,101 motor vehicles have been registered nationwide. Of the total, more than
530,000 cars are in Yangon, accounting for 53.28 % of the total registered
cars.
For
those wishing to use the online booking system in five offices in Yangon may
register their names at www.rtad.gov. mm starting from 27 December.
