State Counsellor arrives in Da Nang, Viet Nam

At the invitation of Mr. Tran Dai Quang, President of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam, State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi left Nay Pyi Taw for Da Nang, Viet Nam yesterday morning.

Daw Aung San Suu Kyi will attend a Special Meeting of leaders of ASEAN member countries and the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) to be held in Da Nang. She will also attend the 31st ASEAN Summit and related meetings to be held in Manila at the invitation of Mr. Rodrigo Duterte, the President of the Philippines.
The State Counsellor was seen off at Nay Pyi Taw International Airport by U Kyaw Tint Swe, Union Minister for the Office of the State Counsellor, Nay Pyi Taw Council Chairman Dr. Myo Aung and wife, Deputy Minister for the President’s Office U Min Thu and responsible officials from the Vietnamese Embassy in Myanmar.
Daw Aung San Suu Kyi arrived in Da Nang yesterday at 12:40 pm local time, with the Guard of Honour of Vietnam welcoming the State Counsellor and party at Da Nang International Airport together with Dr. Chu Ngoc Anh, Minister, Vietnam Ministry of Science and Technology, Vice-Chairman of Da Nang Public Affairs Committee, Myanmar Ambassador to Vietnam U Kyaw Soe Win and wife, and officials from the Myanmar Embassy in Da Nang.
The State Counsellor and party then proceeded to the Premier Village Resort in Da Nang, where they will stay during their visit.
The State Counsellor was accompanied by National Security Advisor U Thaung Tun, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs U Kyaw Tin and other officials. Union Ministers Thura U Aung Ko and U Kyaw Win will follow the group to the Philippines on 11 November.
