External trade hit US$18.9 billion as of early November this FY

Values of international trade with its foreign partners over past seven months of current FY reached US$18.9 billion, which increased by $3 billion more than similar period of last FY. Between 1st April and 3rd November, there is a trade deficit of $2.23 billion as export value estimated $8.29 billion and import value was about $10.6 billion.


Myanmar conducted foreign trade with via sea route and border gates. Trade value is up by $3.26 billion via sea route whereas border trade shows a steep decline of $185 million. Myanmar’s agro products, natural gas, livestock, forestry products, minerals, fishery products and finished industrial goods are exported to the foreign trade partners. Capital goods such as machinery, construction tools including steel, products used in telecommunication, vehicles and auto parts, raw industrial materials including petroleum products, plastic raw materials, fertilizers, chemicals, etc and pharmaceuticals, the largest consumer product, are imported in to the country.
