High-ranking officials from Th a i l a n d ’ s D e p a r t m
e n t of Labour Protection and Welfare under the Ministry of Labour met with
officials from the Thailand-based Myanmar migrants rights organisation Aid
Alliance Committee (AAC) and another philanthropic organisation, Raks Thai, at
the head office of the Ministry of Labour in Bangkok on Tuesday.
During the meeting, they discussed matters related to Myanmar
workers' difficulties and decided to open a call centre in Thailand that would
provide assistance from charitable organisations and the Department of Labour
Protection and Welfare.
At the end of the discussion, both parties agreed on an array
of issues – to try and resolve disagreements between employers and workers, to
implement measures ensuring against labour and human rights violations, and to
carry out inspections of Thaiowned industries, according to a report on the
website of the Aid Alliance Committee (AAC).
