Humanitarian aid reaches Sittway IDP camps

Humanitarian aid donated by the Red Cross Movement were delivered to local people taking shelter at monasteries in Sittway.


The aid was handed over by volunteer Red Cross members from Rakhine State and Yangon Region led by U Ko Lay, Chairman of Rakhine State Red Cross Supervision Committee.

Last night, varieties of commodities for for 242 house-holds such as boxes of sanitary towels, mosquito-nets, blankets, tarpaulin sheets, canned sardines and packs of instant noodles were provided to displaced local nationals taking shelter at Kaw Wida, Dhamma Rama, Thayettaw, Ottara and Zeyawady monasteries.

Similar items have been donated from 10 September to 27 September, in addition to two water tanks holding 1,000 liter each to Aung Myay Kone and Wi Thokeda Rama monasteries under the Red Cross Movement Program.

The humanitarian aid was delivered to those taking shelter at the following rescue camps in Sittwe — Aung Myay Kone monastery, Ceitta Thukha monastery, Dekkhina Rama monastery, Buddha Maw monastery, Alotawpyae monastery, Lanmadaw monastery (north), La Yaung Win monastery and Theikdi Karron monastery, a variety of commodities were offered.
