Germany to help Myanmar repair historic Manuha Temple in Bagan

GERMANY pledged to assist Myanmar repair Manuha Cave Temple, one of oldest temples in Bagan Ancient Cultural Zone, according to the Myawady Daily’s report on Saturday.


U Aung Aung Kyaw, director of the Department of Archaeology and National Museum (Bagan branch), said that north and west parts of ancient structure were naturally damaged and the repair will commence next January with the use of German technology. Germany is famous for its stones techniques and German authorities accepted the request of Myanmar government to renovate the ancient stone temple to restore the damaged parts back of their original condition.

 The renovation project of ancient cave temple will take a long time. Nowadays, the Manuha Temple, which is located near Nagayon Temple, NanpayaTemple and MyazediPagoda in Myingaba Village, is an active place of worship for Buddhists.
The history tells that the temple was built with the use of stones produced from the north of Tuyin Mountain.
