Deputy Minister
for Defence Major-General Myint Nwe told parliamentarians that insurgents along
the border of Tamu Township in Sagaing Region occasionally used improvised
explosives and that Tatmadaw patrols in the area have prevented 29 attacks
since 2008 by discovering weapons caches or using informants.
The Deputy
Minister’s comments at yesterday’s Amyotha Hluttaw also describe insurgent
cross-border tactics and efforts by Myanmar security forces to prevent
infiltration.
