Bill to amend Farmland Law tabled by Amyotha Hluttaw

Union Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation Dr Aung Thu tabled a bill to amend Farmland Law (2012) during yesterdays Amyotha Hluttaw meeting.


Dr. Aung Thu explained that the bill was tabled to review weaknesses in the bill that make it less relevant to current situations.
A bill committee report on the bill was then read by committee member U Aung Kyi Nyunt and an announcement was made for hluttaw representatives who want to discuss the bill to register their names.

Earlier, questions by U Hla Myint @ U Hla Myint Than of Mon State Kyaikto constituency, Dr. Win Myint of Bago Region constituency 11, Daw Naw Sa Muhtu of Kayin State constituency 11 and U Win Maung of Magway Region constituency 6 were answered by Union Minister for Health and Sports Dr. Myint Htwe.

Afterward, Deputy Minister for Construction U Kyaw Lin responded to a question on city entrance, bridge and road usage tolls collected by Max Highway Company toll gate and Shwe Thanlwin Company toll gate in Bago Township, Bago Region.

Hluttaw representatives also discussed a bill to amend the Telecommunications Law, for which the Hluttaw Speaker decided to have another hearing of the joint bill committee on the bill. Bill committee chairman U Zaw Min read the committee’s report on a draft of Myanmar Gemstone Law 2017, and Amyotha Hluttaw farmers affairs committee member U Thet Naing Soe read the committee report on its progress during the duration of the 2nd Amyotha Hluttaw 5th regular session. The Hluttaw asked that representatives who want to discuss the bill should register their names.
