Two industrial
zones will be built in Haka and Paletwa townships in Chin State in next
financial year, according to a statement issued by the Information and Public
Relations Department (IPRD) yesterday.
The projects will
be implemented by Chin State government in Paletwa Township as part of the
larger Kaladan Multimodel Transit Transport Project, a joint river
transportation project between India and Myanmar.
The whole
project will cost over US$450 million. The Kaladan River project is one of
Myanmar’s largest cooperative projects with India. Paletwa Township will supply
the national grid. The government will also start industrial training courses
in the next fiscal year.
“Small and
medium enterprises will start in Paletwa township,” said Salai Isac Khin for
Municipal Electricity and Industry Minister of Chin State government. “Haka is
one of the townships which are suitable for implementation of the development
projects and creation of job opportunities for local people. To support the
development of more industrial businesses in Chin State, Chin Federation of
Chambers of Commerce and Industry (CFCCI) was formed.
Currently, there
are six huge enterprises and over 200 small and medium enterprises in Chin
State.
