The
UN’s World Food Programme will support 424 families in the village tracts of
Koetankauk and Cheinkhali in Yathetaung township, Rakhine State, according to
the State Counsellor Office’s Information Committee.
It is learnt that 1,757
people from 321 families in Koetankauk and 1,497 people from 193 families in
Cheinkhali -- a total of 3,254 people from 424 families -- will receive
provisions from the WFP, which are currently being kept in a warehouse in
Shwepha village in Maungtaw Township. Following the 9 October 9 violent armed
attacks and the attacks that followed, the WFP, the UNHCR & the UNOCHA
provided humanitarian aid starting on 8 November, as did the Union Government,
Rakhine State Cabinet and well-wishers.
