The Amyotha Hluttaw session yesterday
focused on the construction of new ring roads for Kengtung and Tamu.
The representative of the Shan
State Constituency raised a question whether the government has a plan to build
a ring road in Kengtung in Shan State so as to provided access for trucks.
Union Minister for Construction U
Win Khaing said arrangements are underway to build a ring road around Kengtung,
with compensation to be paid to farmland owners for 97 acres of land.
A budget allocation for construction
of the road and compensation for the land has also been submitted to the union government
for the 2017-18 fiscal year, he added.
The union minister also responded to
a question related to compensation for landowners whose farmland was
confiscated for construction of Tamu ring road. In his response, the union
minister said that an agreement between authorities and landowners has been reached
through negotiations and compensation will be paid as soon as the regional
government approves it.
