Armed
groups from the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) and the Ta’ang National
Liberation Army (TNLA) on Monday launched artillery attacks, fired shells and
extorted money from workers in factories in Homon and Kaunghmuton wards in
Muse, the State Counsellor Office’s Information Committee said.
The artillery shell fired by the KIA, TNLA armed group into the gorge near the meal-selling shop on Thittaw Street in Homon Ward at 6:40pm on Monday exploded, with two other explosions nearby.
Explosions in the wards of Kaunghmuton, Hona and Sethmu Kwetthit occurred at about 9:40pm. About an hour later, more explosions occurred near Sethmu Lan and near the village of Mantmai, but caused no injuries, it is learnt. Upon learning that the KIA, TNLA armed groups had entered the wards of Kaunghmuton, Hona and Sethmu Kwetthit to extort some factory workers, Security forces were dispatched to clear the area, it is learnt.
