Eye Care Tour: 52 Cataract Patients In Nay Pyi Taw Received FOC Operation

Free of charge operation for the patients with cataract have been provided under the Eye Care tour program in Mekong region named as “Light”.

President U Htin Kyaw and wife Daw Su Su Lwin encouraged the program held at Eyes, Ears, Nose and Throat Hospital in Nay Pyi Taw on Wednesday.
Union Minister for Health Dr. Myint Htwe said there are about 246 million people with poor eyesight and 39 million blind people.
In Myanmar, about 350,000 people have been suffered cataract, and about 100,000 were able to receive operation. He urged all to make efforts for providing more treatment to meet the target of World Health Organization (WHO).
WHO has designated to provide surgery to 3000 patients in a million, and Myanmar has so far reached 2038 in 2014-2015. This eye care tour program was jointly organized by Chinese Embassy in Yangon, and other five Chinese organizations. 52 patients will be provided with free of charge operation by Chinese surgeon team.
The team has already provided treatment to 100 patients each at Yangon Eyes, Ears, Nose and Throat Hospital and Sitagu Eyes Hospital.
