Myanmar, Laos to enhance relations to strategic partnership

 

Chairman of the Lao-Myanmar Friendship Association Mr Seneamatmontry Chanthavong paid a courtesy call on President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar U Min Aung Hlaing, during his State Visit to the Lao PDR, yesterday afternoon.

At the meeting, they frankly discussed the promotion of friendly relations and cooperation between Myanmar and Laos, plans to enhance the relations to the strategic partnership, the role of friendship associations of the two countries, efforts of both governments to beef up friendly ties and cooperation and needs of both associations to participate in endeavours of the governments, efforts of friendship associations to promote friendly relations between the peoples residing border regions through bilateral trade via the Myanmar-Lao friendship bridge, need to improve the role of youth to participate in the friendly relation programmes of both countries, and promotion of fraternal cooperation based on religious, economic, healthcare, education and social sectors.
After the meeting, the President of Myanmar and the Lao-Myanmar Friendship Association Chairman exchanged commemorative gifts. Also present at the meeting were Union ministers, senior Tatmadaw officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief, deputy ministers, the Myanmar Ambassador to the Lao PDR, the chairman of Myanmar-Lao Friendship Association and officials.
