President of the People’s Republic of China Mr Xi Jinping welcomed President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar U Min Aung Hlaing, who is on a State Visit to the People’s Republic of China, with a Guard of Honour at the Great Hall of the People yesterday morning, and they held talks.
The
Myanmar President was welcomed at the entrance to the Great Hall of the People
by the Guard of Honour of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) (Army,
Navy and Air) with the salute while the trumpet troupe honoured the President
with the music. The artillery troop in parade performed the 21-gun salute.
President
U Min Aung Hlaing was warmly welcomed by President Mr Xi Jinping. They shook
hands against the backdrop of the national flags of both countries, while the media recorded the
event.
The
Chinese President greeted the Myanmar delegation members while the Myanmar
President greeted the Chinese delegation.
They
took the salute of the Guard of Honour and inspected it. They waved to the
children waving the miniature flags of the two countries and took the salute of
the Guard of Honour. They then proceeded to Fujian Hall, where the meeting
would be held.
The
two Presidents held talks together with delegations of the two countries at
Fujian Hall.
At
the meeting, the Chinese President expressed his warm welcome to President U
Min Aung Hlaing. He discussed the standing of China not to interfere in the
internal affairs of other countries, emphasizing the sovereignty and territory
of other countries, China’s support for Myanmar’s endeavours in initiating
national development, security, peace and stability, socioeconomic development
of the people, efforts for peace and stability, and a political path suited for
the State.
In
response, the Myanmar President stated that the primary aim of the visit to
enhance cooperation in multiple sectors between the two countries, including
Myanmar’s development, cooperation in Myanmar’s peace process, and the increase
of China’s investment in Myanmar and trade promotion.
His
talks emphasized the implementation of border stability without fail to
successfully initiate the China-Myanmar economic corridor, which is part of the
BRI, the efforts of the Myanmar government to initiate the NCA in Myanmar,
combatting telecom fraud and gambling in Myanmar as well as drug eradication in
cooperation with China, and the reopening of border posts and trade routes.
The
Chinese President also discussed the emphasis on cooperation between the two
countries amid the complicated world political landscape with strengthening the
strategic confidence, the status of both nations as the most trustful and
reliable partner countries, the deeper cooperation between the two countries,
the firmness in enhancing security and rule of law between the two countries,
the support of China for Myanmar as an important member of ASEAN, and the plans
of China to provide aid for all necessities of Myanmar.
They
also exchanged views on strengthening bilateral ties and expanding cooperation
across space technology, energy, security, and cultural and religious
exchanges.
After
the meeting, a ceremony to exchange documents of the memorandum of
understanding between the two countries followed.
Officials
of relevant sectors signed 18 MoUs on human resource development, agriculture,
trade promotion, media and humanitarian, technology and knowledge-sharing
sectors, including the joint promotion of cooperation in the Global Security
Initiative (GSI), the Global Civilization Initiative (GCI), and the Global
Development Initiative (GDI) in the presence of the two Presidents of Myanmar
and China.
The
Chinese President hosted a special luncheon in honour of the Myanmar President
and delegation members. The Chinese President welcomed President U Min Aung
Hlaing and had a special luncheon together.
After
the special luncheon, the Chinese President saw off President U Min Aung
Hlaing.
