THE second day of the Science Festival Myanmar 2025 took place at the Naypyitaw State Polytechnic University (NSPU) yesterday.
It was attended by Union Minister for
Science and Technology Dr Myo Thein Kyaw, the permanent secretary, and the
relevant officials from Russian Rosatom and National Research Nuclear
University MEPhI (Moscow Engineering Physics Institute).
In the morning section, the Union
minister watched the project shows of university students, screening of ‘The
Science Movies Almanack”, and the question and answer session.
About 100 Grade-5 students
participated in the “DIY Science Session”, which aims to create opportunities
for the youths to be more familiar with the science world and provide basic
engineering technologies, creativity and knowledge.
During the discussion on Small
Modular Reactor (SMR), the Russian experts briefed the SMR that was established
with safe technologies providing an automatic shutdown system in case of
danger.
Ten groups participated in the
HackAtom competition under the topic of Small modular nuclear reactors as a
basis for industrial development of the region, and officials presented awards
to the winning groups.
