Every region must cultivate a robust pool of skilled professionals and knowledgeable human resources to effectively propel national development across all sectors.
Chairman of the State
Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Haing yesterday
afternoon met departmental officials and town elders at the city hall in
Kengtung to talk about regional development.
Speaking at the meeting, the Senior
General pledged to upgrade the Kengtung General Hospital in coordination with
the relevant ministry. He continued that the upgrading of the Loimwe Hospital
will be reviewed due to fewer patients and the deployment of doctors.
He stressed that each region has an
abundance of educated and skilled individuals to achieve national development.
Each region must have a rich pool of knowledgeable human resources capable of
driving the development of the country. These educated individuals must be able
to contribute effectively to the region’s social, economic, administrative, and
agricultural development.
The Senior General noted that it is
necessary to turn out educated individuals for the development of Shan State
(East) while teachers must be qualified.
He revealed that Polytechnic
Universities, which integrate computer and technology studies, have been
successfully established and operated. In addition, arrangements are underway
to open Polytechnic Institutes for those who did not pass the matriculation
examination. Moreover, Industrial, Agricultural, and Technological High Schools
are open for students who have passed basic middle school education.
He underscored that if the country
can achieve the targeted goals for crop cultivation, calculations show that
national income could increase by over $8 billion. Similarly, if additional
production capacities can also reach their full potential, income could rise by
about $14 billion.
The Senior General highlighted that
by ensuring the availability of regional agricultural and livestock products
and exporting them to neighbouring countries, regional income would increase,
leading to improvements in the socioeconomic life of the people. Therefore,
efforts should be made to cultivate successful crops in the region using modern
techniques in order to produce marketable products.
Due to the abundance of bamboo
resources in Shan State (East), he continued to say that it is possible to
manufacture bamboo-related products to contribute to the region’s economic
development. For example, bamboo pulp, consumer goods made from bamboo, and
food products can be produced. To support the development of the Kengtung area,
the government is currently upgrading the airports in Kengtung, Tachilek, and
Monghsat, as well as improving transportation infrastructure for better
connectivity and smoother travel.
The Senior General underlined that
if all the local administrative bodies, town elders, and residents work
together in unity and cooperation, the region will achieve stability, peace,
and development. This, in turn, will contribute to the overall progress of the
entire country.
Deputy Administrator of Shan State
(Kengtung) U Zaw Lwin Oo reported on the accomplishment of guidance of the
Prime Minister, agriculture and livestock farming tasks, disbursement of loans
to MSME businesses, seizures of illegal trade, generating electricity,
enrolment at basic education schools, healthcare services to local people,
development of libraries and improvement of Kengtung-Loimwe road.
Town elders presented their wishes
to upgrade Kengtung General Hospital (200-bed) to a 300-bed facility, upgrade
the Loimwe Station Hospital, and fencing of Loimwe Lake.
Union ministers responded to
reports of town elders on utilizing vacant and virgin lands under the law,
decline of bamboo extraction, yearly deforestation, tripartite cooperation
among Myanmar, Thailand and Laos for controlling transboundary haze pollution,
the opening of basic education schools, colleges and universities, sufficiency
of drinking water at schools and attending of school-age children to schools.
The meeting was also attended by
SAC Joint Secretary General Ye Win Oo, Council member General Nyo Saw, Union
ministers, the Chief Minister of Shan State, senior Tatmadaw officers from the
Office of the Commander-in-Chief, the commander of the Triangle Region Command
and officials.
