UNION Minister for Border Affairs Lt-Gen Tun Tun Naung made an inspection tour to Thetkaepyin Village of Sittway Township together with Rakhine State Chief Minister U Htein Lin, senior military personnel and departmental officials yesterday.
While meeting with the incharge personnel of cyclone-hit Bengali IDP camps at Thetkaepyin Station Hospital, the Union minister said the recuse work, assistance and rehabilitation processes will be conducted as quickly as possible. In doing so, these works will be also done at the storm-hit IPD camps. The currently provided rice and items are aimed at the current situation and further assistance will be provided.
Then, the Rakhine state chief minister talked about the heavy damage in the townships of Rakhine State, the work processes of state government with the support of the government and donors, further assistance to the people living in IDP camps and urged them to participate in rehabilitation processes by cooperating with the state government.
The Rakhine State government, Tatmadaw and departmental officials, in-charge persons of IDP camps and social welfare organizations gave warnings about Mocha and conducted the evacuation.
The heads of IDP camps reported on the needs and the Union Minister and the State Chief Minister made proper instructions. Then, they gave 1,200 bags of rice, 1,500 visses of oil, 2,200 visses of peas and 36 tarpaulin rolls to Bengalis residing at 12 IDP camps in Sittway Township.
