Union Minister for Commerce attends South and Southeast Asia Commodity Expo and Investment Fair in Kunming

The South and Southeast Asia Commodity Expo and Investment Fair (SSACEIF) 2019 was opened yesterday at the Kunming Dianchi International Convention and Exhibition Center in China.

Union Minister for Commerce Dr. Than Myint and party, accompanied by Myanmar Ambassador to the People’s Republic of China U Thit Lin Ohn, attended the South and Southeast Asia Commodity Expo and Investment Fair (SSACEIF) 2019 at the Kunming Dianchi International Convention and Exhibition Center in China yesterday.

In the event, the union minister and the ambassador looked around the booths displaying Myanmar’s products, and coordinated over the businesspersons’ discussed requirements.

In the opening event, PRC Governor of Yunnan Province Mr. Ruan Chengfa acted as mater of ceremony, and Yunnan Province Party Secretary Mr. Chen Hao, Union Minister Dr. Than Myint and leaders of the delegation of the South and Southeast Asia countries delivered speeches.

Afterwards, the union minister and Chin State Chief Minister U Salai Lian Luai attended the ceremony to sign MoU on cooperating in upgrading technology and trading elephant foot yam between Chin Taung Yadanar Co., Ltd from Myanmar and Sichuan Newstar Konijac Co., Ltd from China.

In the evening, the union minister and party discussed the matters related to cooperation on trade and investment with the PRC Governor of Yunnan Province Mr. Ruan Chengfa.

The commodity expo and investment fair was attended by 250 businesspersons from Myanmar, displaying 66 product booths.

An agreement worth nearly US$5 million on trading some 500 tons of elephant foot yam from Chin State yearly, and other commodity agreements were also signed in the event.
