Myanmar delegation catches up on PLWD rights at global disability summit

A Myanmar delegation led by Dr. Win Myat Aye, Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement, is attending the 2nd Global Disability Summit in Buenos Aires, Argentina, from 6th to 8th June.
The summit is a collaboration between the Government of Argentina, the International Alliance Disability (IDA) and the Latin American Network of Non-Governmental Organizations of Persons with Disabilities and their Families (RIADIS).

The first summit was held in London last year and this year’s summit is a continuation that aims to strengthen the resolutions made by the attending countries to make visible changes for the world’s PLWD population (people living with disabilities).

The summit seeks to empower PLWDs from disability-orientated organizations and to fully implement the rights of PLWDs in Latin America and the rest of the world, while strengthening the resolution of these organization’s exclusivity.

PLWDs and leaders of disability organizations from Latin America and Argentina’s Vice President Mrs. Gabriela Michetti attended the summit.
Dr. Win Myat Aye and his delegation attended the panel discussion held yesterday and also observed the display of innovative inventions to aid PLWDs, practical demonstrations and enjoyed musical performances from PLWDs.
