To promote the long-term strengthening of friendly diplomatic relations between the Republic of the Union of Myanmar and the Republic of Belarus, a naming ceremony was held in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday morning. A ceremony to name the road connecting Yazathingaha Road and Zabukyetthayay Road was held with the name of Minsk, which is the capital city of Belarus. The event took place near the advanced market at the corner of Yazathingaha Road and Thirikyawswa Road.
The grand ceremony was attended by Belarusian Foreign Minister Mr Maxim Ryzhenkov, Minister of Industry Mr Andrei Kuzniatsou, Minister of Agriculture and Food Mr Yury Horlau, Minister of Health Mr Aliaksandr Khajayeu, Chairperson of the state-owned small-scale enterprise Bellegprom Ms Nadzeya Lazarevich, and Belarusian Ambassador to Myanmar Mr Uladzimir Baravikou, who accompanied President Mr Aleksandr Lukashenko of the Republic of Belarus. Also present were Union Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation U Min Naung, Union Minister for Industry Dr Charlie Than, Union Minister for Health Dr Thet Khine Win, Chairman of the Nay Pyi Taw Council U Than Tun Oo, Myanmar Ambassador to Belarus U Thit Linn Ohn and officials.
The Belarusian Foreign Minister
stated that the capitals of Myanmar and Belarus have enjoyed friendly relations
since 2011, marking many years of cooperation. He said that being able to
record this historic moment during the visit of the Belarusian President
signifies that the friendship between the peoples of the two countries, their
bilateral relations, and mutual understanding will continue to grow stronger
and endure for many years.
The Chairman of the Nay Pyi Taw Council stated that during the official
goodwill visit of the President of the Republic of Belarus to Myanmar, the road
being inaugurated would be named “Minsk Road” in honour of Minsk, the capital
of Belarus. He said he was pleased, as this designation would stand as a
historic symbol of the friendship between the two countries.
The Belarusian Foreign Minister and the Nay Pyi Taw Council Chairman unveiled the signboard of the road, and the Belarusian Foreign Minister sprinkled scented water on it. They all strolled along the road.
The newly designated “Minsk Road,” named to promote long-term friendly diplomatic relations between the Republic of the Union of Myanmar and the Republic of Belarus, is a major road connecting Yazathingaha Road and Zabukyetthayay Road. The road is approximately 7,000 feet in length and is home to branches of Myanma Economic Bank, several private banks, and the Thiri Mingala Advanced Market.
