President of the Republic of Belarus Mr Aleksandr Lukashenko who paid an official goodwill visit to Myanmar and Acting President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar and State Security and Peace Commission Chairman Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, together with their entourages, paid homage to the Maravijaya Buddha Image which is the tallest sitting marble Buddha image across the world, in the precinct of the Buddha Park in Dekkhinathiri Township of Nay Pyi Taw yesterday afternoon.
The Belarusian President and the Senior General were welcomed by SSPC member and Prime Minister U Nyo Saw, Commission Secretary and Joint Executive Chief General Ye Win Oo, Union Ministers U Mya Tun Oo, U Than Swe, U Maung Maung Ohn, U Tin Oo Lwin, U Ko Ko Lwin and U Myo Thant, the member of the Nay Pyi Taw Council, members of the image board of trustees and officials at the Buddha image.
The two Heads of State had documentary photos taken at the victorious plot and visited the Gandakuti Chamber. The Senior General explained the records on building the Buddha image, and construction of the Maravijaya Buddha Park.
They beat the Saddadhipati Bell to share merits gained. They offered flowers, water and oil lights to the Image, and the Belarusian President signed the visitors’ book.
The Senior General presented the
history of the Maravijaya Buddha Image, documentary photos on the goodwill
visits and the video documentary to the Belarusian President.
The Belarusian President and his entourage left the Buddha Park, where the
Senior General and party warmly saw them off.
